Round 2 For Dummies

April 1st 2019

Thursday

Richmond 10.6.66 defeated by Collingwood 17.8.100

Richmond’s new life post Rance started in poor fashion with Collingwood making us all worried that this could be the year they choke in another Grand Final. Loyal Lynch was good with his three goals but Jack Riewoldt is set to miss three weeks with a broken wrist and Dylan Grimes Is set to miss a week. The game has two big moments Jorden De Goey specky then goal one of his 5 South Australian Bruce McAvaney said that De Goey could be the first short forward to win the Coleman since Leigh Matthews. 1, Alex Sexton would like to have a word 2, fellow South Australian Tony Modra won it in 1997. I got it leaked to me Mason Cox did not get his week suspension for that fairy tap on Grimes but got his week suspends when he took on the Richmond backline and slotted home a goal. Players need to have more respect for their opponents.

Friday

Sydney 8.14.62 defeated by Adelaide 12.16.88

Just like when the Doctor had to find Gallifrey in Dr Who Sydney are also going the long way around 0-2 just like 2014 and 2017 where they made finals both season so we can just put Sydney in our end of year top 8. Adelaide was my pre-season tip to win the flag and there were good but not great against the Swans. The biggest shock of the night was the fact that two teams not from Victoria were playing on a Friday night, so it is pretty much the end of the world.

Saturday

Essendon 9.11.65 defeated by St Kilda 10.16.76

Boy oh Boy no one gave the Saints a chance heading into this one but just like last week Essendon forgot to show up. Where is this top four Essendon that has been hyped since the startled of 2018. St Kilda are now 2-0 a win next week over Fremantle they will go 3-0 and last time that happened was 2014 and we all know what happened that year.

Port Adelaide 13.10.88 defeated Carlton 11.6.72

Port Adelaide came off a massive win over Melbourne that we will later find out was not so massive and it shown when Carlton took it up to them mostly because Carlton wanted to rub dirt into Essendon’s wounds. Was not to be for Carlton though as Port Adelaide ended up pulling away in the last showing they are about where Richmond are.

Geelong 20.6.126 defeated Melbourne 4.10.46

I don’t hate Geelong I hate my friend who makes me hate Geelong but even I cannot say anything bad about their game. They turned the clock back to 2009 and made Melbourne look as bas as they have in a long long time. Melbourne came into this season as one of the flag favourites but finish the round on the bottom of the table a place they know so much about.

West Coast 16.8.104 defeated Greater Western Sydney 7.10.52

West Coast unvalued their fourth AFL flag with their mascot jumping off Optus stadium and after the game the Giants would have wished they could do the same. Winning away from is the reason why the Giants are yet to win a flag in their history. Shannon Hurn played game 250 which is a shock for people living in Victoria who only heard about him in 2015. West Coast looked like their old self after last week’s lost to the Lions and set up a Grand Final rematch with Collingwood next week. (Keep your eye out for Sheed)

Sunday

Adelaide W 10.3.63 defeated Carlton W 2.6.18

Adelaide has won their second AFLW and this is the biggest winning Grand Final margin in AFLW history. A recorded breaking crowed of 53,024 packed into Adelaide Oval to see Erin Phillips put on the best 3 quarters you will see. Unfortanly did her ACL but still won the Best on Ground because she is that good. A person who couldn’t care less about the AFLW still knows who she is and she is the Best AFLW with daylight behind her.

North Melbourne 13.9.87 defeated by Brisbane 16.11.107

I for one didn’t see the hype around Brisbane but I am starting to be a believer. Lachie Neale was great with 43 touches but wouldn’t say he is a Brownlow fancy just yet. Even though I still don’t think Tom Mitchell should have won the 2018 Brownlow. Brisbane fans are disappointed to know that their jumpers are now to small since it’s been 9+ years since you last put them on. For North another loss and another game with no one there.

Hawthorn 13.9.87 defeated by Western Bulldogs 16.10.106

Tom Scully first game for Hawthorn since he connived the Giants to sell him for a fourth-round pick and everything looked good more the Hawks they were 30 points up at 3qt then the Doggies channelled their inner 2016 and smashed the hawks all over the ground to win by 18 points. Just after I told my friend how good would a Hawthorn v Geelong Grand Final be because no one wants those two teams up their again

Gold Coast 7.19.61 defeated Fremantle 8.10.58

The modern day Dunstall v Lockett Fremantle’s Cam McCarthy taking on Gold Coast Suns Alex Sexton so we knew it would be a shootout. Sexton is now leading the Coleman on 8 goals funny that a team who has no goal scorers is now leading the Coleman. Fremantle played Jesse Hogan in a game that was 5 years in the making for the club and unfortunately he did not hit the scoreboard. Ross must be annoyed that Taberner and McCarthy are still playing good games because if their playing good how can they be dropped. Suns win their first game of 2018 and really should have been 2-0 but a lot of people have lost money on Betting on them to not win a game all 2019.
