Richmond isn’t the Bulldogs of 2016

One of the biggest comparisons after the Tigers 2016 Grand Final victory was that they are the same as the Bulldogs team who won the flag a year earlier. Some people even wrote that both flags win was bad for football. Where in 2016 the Bulldogs finished 7th and had a amazing September run where they won the Grand Final, The Tigers had a different run.

The Tigers started the season off 0-5 until losing to Adelaide by 76 points then they went on a choking spree. Round 7 they blew a 30-point lead to lose to the dogs by 5, Round 8 they were up by 4 points with 21 seconds left until David Mundy kicked a goal after the siren to win and in round 9 leading by 25 points at three quarter time the Tigers went goalless to lose to the Giants by 3 points. Richmond then defeated Essendon and North then had a bye. Then in round 13 after leading Sydney by 35 point mid way through the second quarter Richmond went on to lose by 9 points after round 13 Richmond only lost 2 more games for the whole season.

Richmond finished the home and away season 3rd on the ladder on 15 wins 7 losses on 60 points two points off top of the ladder if Richmond didn’t blow 4 games they would have had 19 wins 3 and a half wins on top of Adelaide and Geelong.

Richmond also have not missed back to back finals since 2011 – 2012 finishing 2013: 5th 2014: 8th 2015: 5th to say say this team who have made the last 4 out of 5 final series isn’t a good premiership team is a a disrespect on the Tigers. To say any team dose not deserve to win the premiership is bad for the game is just plan wrong you have a 1 in 18 chance of winning the flag and to be the best out of all 18 teams isn’t just luck it is hard work.

The 2017 Richmond Tigers premiership team was as hard working as any of the other 121 Premiership teams
