Go Home Factor is Worrying Supporters

As I watched the 2017 AFL help but think “yep he will go home in two years” after a player get drafted interstate and I am not the only one. Cam Rayner, Andrew Brayshaw, Adam Cerra & Aaron Naughton the players from the top 10 that got drafted interstate and on social media all I saw was “in 2 years he will go home” people were saying that new Docker Adam Cerra looked unhappy when he was giving his jumper from Ross Lyon. The same thing was said when Hugh McCluggage last year.

Brisbane fans have more reason to worry losing Elliot Yeo, Sam Docherty, Jared Polec, Billy Longer, Jack Crisp, James Aish and Josh Schache as well as senior players Jack Redden and former captain Tom Rockliff all leaving the club in the past few years so it no surprise Brisbane fans are expecting the worst with Hugh McCluggage who I credit as a future Brownlow medallist and captain of the club and number 1 draft pick Cam Rayner will have Victorian clubs all over him when he comes out of contract in 2019. Both are likely to be “Home sick”.

Fremantle lost two players this year due to “Home sickness” Harley Balic and Lachie Weller but Fremantle has mostly been a good team for players to stay Pick 2 Andrew Brayshaw has family in WA including his brother who was drafted to West Coast during this year’s draft but pick 5 Adam Cerra is the only that will have Fremantle fans worried but only time can tell.

WA are the next best for the go home factor with Fremantle picking up six Home sick players in the last two years so seeing Aaron Naughton who was cited as the best key position player in the draft having both West Coast and Fremantle eyeing him will also tempt him to go home.

The Go Home factor/Home Sickness is a massive problem in the AFL and it is bad for supporters what’s the point in having a hero if he is going to pack up and go home to mummy as soon as his first contract is up
