         AFL vs VFL

April 13th 2018

Yesterday it was announced that the MCG will host the AFL Grand Final until 2057.

Many fans of interstate clubs herd it as “The MCG will host the VFL Grand Final until 2057”.

Where I do not believe that the Grand Final being at the MCG is a disadvantage or advantage I do believe that there is advantage for the 10 Victorian clubs compared to the 8 interstate clubs.

The Media is the biggest example ever herd this about a interstate player. “If he was in Vic he would be known as a superstar”. For Matthew Pavlich it was a weekly thing to hear in 2018 here you know how much fluid a player takes pure game I am sure you are able to see how good a interstate player is. Ricky Nixon pointed out Fremantle defender Alex Pearce for being the best defender of the 2018 season so far after only having two goals kicked on him in three games. It is not hard to look him up that saying should not be around in 2018. Second is the Media “Imagine Tom Lynch doing that in front of 90 thousand people at the G” is a common mind mumming comment I have heard all year. Apart from ANZAC Day how many games get to 90 thousand. Unless it’s a big final the only other game is the Grand Final and believe it or not If Gold Coast make a grand final there would be 90 thousand plus there. I feel like the AFL Media want Lynch to leave the Suns to move to Melbourne and it my biggest issue with the “VFL” biases they want Vic players to come home and interstate players to stay in Vic. I hate the “Go Home Factor” but it is a issue for young Victorian players. Adam Cerra I would say is 60/40 to leave after only two years at Fremantle because the AFL is not doing enough for players to stay.

The fixture is another big issue Collingwood play interstate 5 times in 2018 and 14 at the MCG that could be an easy fix if it wasn’t for $$$$$$. How did Carlton get 5 Thursday/Friday games and Greater Western Sydney (who has made the last two prelim finals) only get one away Friday night game? Brisbane and Gold Coast get one MCG game this year and all the way back in 2010 Fremantle got 0. Wouldn’t you think if the MCG is the home of football more clubs should play there.

All interstate clubs should play 3-4 games there pure year and Victorian clubs should travel 6-7 times a year plus do a double away game. Then people would not complain that they only lost the Grand Final because it was at the MCG. I can explain why Fremantle, Sydney, West Coast, Sydney and Adelaide all lost their Grand Final’s and it’s not because of where it is held.

With free agency rules getting less strict player will be moving around like it is nothing now. So there is no need to get emotionally attached to a player because they will be gone in five years. And before long smaller Vic clubs like North Melbourne and St Kilda will find it hard to survive in the Victorian market as shown in the last few years where both clubs struggle to land big names. The AFL need to have a look on how to make the league fair for all 18 clubs. Or else a dark future could coming.
